It was not just rabbits that were trapped in steel traps. Such traps were made and used for catching rats, mice, moles and other small ground vermin such as stoats and weasels. A lot of the early rat, mole and mouse traps were made from steel parts.
Whilst mole traps are still available to buy new today, a lot of the older types have become quite collectable.
Just like the mouse and rat traps it seems that many traps were made and most are reasonably common to find, but they vary considerably in construction and type and for this reason are sought by collectors.
